Description
What distinguishes a leader from a manager? This course explores the fundamental differences between leadership and management, emphasizing how each role influences organizations and teams. Participants will examine how sources of power can be used to both lead and manage others. Also, key elements of political skill—both positive and negative connotations—will be explored in the context of leadership and management. Finally, the course will highlight how leadership and management skills can be combined to drive meaningful change.

Learning Objectives At the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Differentiate leadership from management
  • Explore how power can be acquired and used to lead and manage effectively
  • Recognize how political skills can enhance management and leadership effectiveness
  • Explain how leadership and management skills can be combined to change teams and organizations
