Description:

Exploring Emotional Intelligence: Key Factors for Inclusive Excellence. Decades of research show that emotional intelligence (EI) competencies demonstrate strong relationships to important academic and workplace outcomes. Research also shows that EI competencies are not dependent on race, gender, or culture of origin, and that anyone can improve their EI with learning and coaching. These workshops will provide an overview of EI, with a focus on the four fundamental clusters of EI: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, and Relationship Management. Participants will gain EI skills to help them be resilient and successful in graduate school and beyond.

Details:

These workshops will be facilitated by Dr. Joann Farrell Quinn, Ph.D., MBA. Dr. Quinn is Director of SELECT Competency Assessment at the University of South Florida (USF) Morsani College of Medicine, an associate professor at the University of South Florida in the Morsani College of Medicine and Muma College of Business, and the Academic Director of the Tampa General Hospital (TGH)-USF People Development Institute. Early-career scientists, such as undergraduate, graduate students, and post-docs, are encouraged to register. Faculty and staff affiliated with IGEN are also welcome to attend. You can register for one or all sessions. Each session can be taken on its own or in conjunction with the others. However, the material will build during the series.
