Description
Everyone has said to themselves, “There’s got to be a better way to this.” And yet, many team members are reluctant to give feedback, ask questions, or make suggestions for new ways to work. This 3-hour course will cover topics associated with the 4 Ps of continuous operational improvement, including 1) philosophy, 2) processes, 3) people, and 4) problem-solving. Team members will learn to expose wasteful practices within systems, to identify root causes of mistakes, and to solve problems on their own. A new outlook will be presented to help team members turn everyday problems into improved operations without sacrificing quality and safety.
Learning Objectives As a result of attending this session, participants will:
- Describe how to embrace problems as opportunities for improvement
- Differentiate between uncovering system problems and blaming people for mistakes
- Articulate language about improvements that highlights the benefits to patients
- Identify new ways of working that address the root causes of problems
- Embrace problem-solving of individuals and informal teams
